Trump Claims GOP Unity While Criticizing Greene and Other Republicans

WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump asserted that the Republican Party is more united than ever, while simultaneously criticizing several GOP members in a recent post on Truth Social. Trump wrote Sunday night that the GOP has “never been so UNITED AS IT iS RIGHT NOW!” but singled out Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Rep. Rand Paul, and Rep. Thomas Massie with disparaging remarks.

In his post, Trump referred to Greene as a “Traitor” and labeled her along with Paul, Massie, and “a couple of other ‘lowlifes’” as exceptions to the party’s cohesion. He acknowledged ongoing disagreements within the party, including debates over the filibuster and legislative priorities, but emphasized a “great spirit and cohesion” among most Republicans.

Trump also claimed that the Republican Party is “MUCH BIGGER” than before he launched his first presidential campaign in 2015, stating, “Many Millions More Members!” He highlighted achievements such as the “Strongest Border EVER,” “Biggest Tax Cuts,” “the Best Economy,” and the “Highest Stock Market in USA History,” adding, “BUT, THE BEST IS YET TO COME! VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!”

The post came shortly after Greene, a former Trump loyalist, announced her resignation from Congress following a public falling out with the former president. Greene criticized the political system in her resignation statement, saying Americans are repeatedly used by both parties to elect candidates who encourage division without improving conditions for the average citizen.

Rep. Thomas Massie expressed sadness over Greene’s resignation, praising her honesty and describing her as embodying what a true representative should be. Meanwhile, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat, criticized Greene’s departure, suggesting she could not handle political pressure after opposing Trump.

Trump’s comments reflect ongoing tensions within the Republican Party as it navigates leadership challenges and policy disagreements ahead of upcoming elections, with the former president maintaining a significant influence over the party’s direction.
