AUSTIN, Texas — November 24, 2025 — Offer Vince Shlomi, widely known as the “ShamWow guy” for his infomercial promoting a super-absorbent towel, has officially filed to run for Congress in Texas as a Republican candidate, according to state election records.

The filing, submitted under the name Offer Vince “ShamWow” Shlomi, was received on Friday. Shlomi, a 61-year-old Israeli-American entrepreneur and president and CEO of the TV marketing company Square One Entertainment, is seeking to unseat 84-year-old incumbent Congressman John Carter in Texas’ 31st Congressional District. Carter’s district includes northern Austin suburbs, Temple, and Fort Hood.

Shlomi told Fox News Digital that his decision to enter the race was motivated by a desire to “destroy wokeism” and as a tribute to the late Charlie Kirk, whom he described as the original “woke buster.” He also cited the political infighting in the country as a factor inspiring him to seek office and “make America happy.”

The 31st District is considered a reliably Republican stronghold. Shlomi is one of at least five candidates competing in the GOP primary for the seat.

Shlomi rose to pop-culture fame in the 2000s with his energetic pitch videos that popularized the “ShamWow” towel. His public career has included several controversies, including allegations of harassment and physical altercations, which contributed to his stepping back from the spotlight in recent years. In 2009, he was arrested in Miami Beach following an alleged violent altercation, an incident that received tabloid attention.

Despite his past controversies, Shlomi has expressed a renewed focus on his public image and political ambitions. The race for Texas’ 31st Congressional District will determine who will represent the area in the U.S. House of Representatives in the upcoming election cycle.
