Saints to Work Out Justin Tucker Following 10-Game Suspension
NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints will bring veteran placekicker Justin Tucker in for a workout after he served a 10-game suspension this season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, officials said Monday.
Tucker, 36, who spent 13 years with the Baltimore Ravens, was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2025 season. The suspension followed allegations that led to the Ravens moving on from the kicker, who had struggled during the 2024 season. He made 22 of 30 field-goal attempts and missed two of 62 extra-point attempts that year.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore discussed the decision to bring Tucker in for a tryout, noting the kicker’s leadership and experience. “He’s been one of their leaders for an extended period of time on a very successful team,” Moore said. “Obviously, there’s been some stuff that’s been unfortunate. He’s gone through an experience and I think it’s about collecting what that experience was.”
Tucker’s tenure with the Ravens included seven Pro Bowl selections, five All-Pro honors, and a Super Bowl victory. Despite his on-field success, off-the-field issues led to his suspension and eventual release from Baltimore.
The Saints’ interest in Tucker comes after their current kicker, Blake Grupe, missed two of three field-goal attempts in a recent loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The team is also reportedly considering Cade York for the kicking position.
Tucker’s wife, Amanda, publicly expressed support for him amid the allegations, stating, “The false allegations against Justin have caused so much hurt to our family. I believe my husband, and I love and support him fully.”
The Saints’ workout with Tucker marks his first opportunity to try out for an NFL team since the suspension began. The team is evaluating options as it seeks to improve its kicking game during the ongoing season.
Further developments regarding Tucker’s potential signing with the Saints have not been disclosed.
