Violent Street Takeover in Queens Leaves Couple Injured and Car Set Ablaze
NEW YORK, N.Y. — November 26, 2025 — A violent street takeover in the Malba neighborhood of Queens resulted in a car being set on fire and a couple suffering injuries in what officials are calling a “planned attack,” according to authorities.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, when approximately 40 vehicles descended on South Drive and 141st Street, according to the New York Police Department. Video footage shared by City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino shows cars speeding over residential lawns and performing donuts in the street, creating chaos in the residential area.
Larry Rusch, a private security guard and local resident, heard the disturbance and went outside to find the large group of vehicles. In an effort to stop further damage, Rusch parked one of his cars in the intersection to block the drivers. He said that after he did so, the vehicles began to leave, but two individuals then approached his car and ignited it with what appeared to be a firework, reigniting the melee.
Footage from the scene shows the vehicle burning in the middle of the street while other cars continued to speed around it. Firefighters responded to extinguish the blaze.
Another resident, Blake Ferrer, was injured while trying to protect his property from the group. Ferrer confronted the drivers, telling them to leave his property, which led to the mob turning their attention toward him and his wife. Video shows the couple being attacked, with Ferrer sustaining a broken nose, shoulder, and ribs.
Officials have characterized the event as a coordinated attack on the residential community. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about street takeovers and their impact on neighborhood safety.
