Ed Kelce Defends Son Travis Kelce’s NFL Performance on Social Media
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ed Kelce took to social media to defend his son, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, against recent criticism by citing his strong performance this NFL season. Through Week 10, Travis Kelce led all tight ends in total yardage, according to Ed Kelce’s Instagram post.
Travis Kelce, a 10-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro, has recorded 54 catches, four touchdowns, and 674 yards this season. Although he fell to second place in total yards among tight ends after Week 12, he remains a top performer. Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride leads all tight ends in receptions (80) and yards (797), while Indianapolis Colts rookie Tyler Warren is close behind Kelce with 662 yards.
At 36 years old, Kelce has shown resilience and reliability as a target for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes despite some decline in athleticism. He has already surpassed his touchdown total from last season. Following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last season, Kelce quickly dismissed retirement rumors by announcing his return.
Kelce recently stated he plans to inform the Chiefs of his intentions to play in 2026 before NFL free agency begins in March, allowing the team time to prepare for the offseason.
In the Chiefs’ most recent game, Kelce contributed four catches for 43 yards in a 23-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 23. The win improved the Chiefs’ record to 6-5, though they remain outside the playoff picture. The team faces a critical upcoming matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day at 4:30 p.m. ET, a game that could impact their playoff chances.
Ed Kelce’s social media defense underscores the ongoing debate about Travis Kelce’s performance amid the Chiefs’ efforts to secure a postseason berth this year.
