Athletes Attempt 48-Hour Dodgeball Marathon in England to Break World Record

2 December 2025 Bizarre

HARTLEPOOL, England — December 2, 2025 — A group of 24 athletes participated in a continuous 48-hour dodgeball game in Hartlepool, England, aiming to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest marathon playing dodgeball, officials said. The event, organized by Dodge Central and hosted by the Hartlepool Mavericks Dodgeball Club at The Dodgeball Center, began at 9 a.m. Saturday and concluded at 9 a.m. Monday.

The previous record for the longest dodgeball marathon was 41 hours, 3 minutes and 17 seconds, set at Castleton State College in Vermont in 2012. The participants sought to surpass this mark while also raising funds for charity.

The event successfully raised more than $8,000 for two charities: CoppaFeel!, which supports breast cancer awareness, and Movember, which focuses on men’s health issues. Organizers highlighted the dual purpose of the marathon as both a record-breaking attempt and a charitable fundraiser.

The 48-hour dodgeball game attracted attention for its endurance challenge and community impact, with athletes maintaining continuous play throughout the two-day period. The event underscored the growing popularity of dodgeball as a competitive sport and its potential to engage participants in philanthropic efforts.
