Nikki Haley Urges America to Confront Rising Antisemitism and Defend Israel

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a forceful call to action, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley emphasized the urgent need for American leaders to confront the surge in antisemitism and defend Israel as a vital ally in protecting national security interests. Haley, who witnessed antisemitism firsthand during her tenure at the UN, criticized the spread of falsehoods about Israel, particularly among left-leaning politicians, and highlighted the importance of standing with Israel against shared enemies.

Haley pointed to the alarming rise in antisemitic rhetoric and violence both in the United States and globally, describing it as one of the most disturbing trends in recent years. She underscored that combating these dangerous lies is not only a moral imperative but also essential for safeguarding American security. “There is an urgent need for elected officials on the left and right to confront antisemitic falsehoods and declare without fear that America is right to stand with Israel for the sake of our own national security and theirs,” Haley wrote in an op-ed published December 11, 2025.

During her time at the United Nations, Haley said she observed antisemitism daily and saw how quickly antisemitic lies can spread when leaders fail to respond with truth. She criticized the Democratic Party for becoming a “hotbed of hatred toward Israel,” noting that many leftist politicians have adopted the narrative that Israel is an occupying colonizer committing genocide in Gaza. Haley cited the example of New York City’s newly elected socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, who built his campaign on such claims, which resonated with leftist voters.

Haley challenged common misconceptions about Israel’s role in Gaza, stating that no Israeli soldier or civilian has been present in Gaza since 2005, when Israel withdrew its forces and settlements. She argued that accusations of genocide against Israel ignore the country’s extensive efforts to avoid civilian casualties during military operations, often at great risk to its own soldiers.

Highlighting the timeline of recent conflicts, Haley noted that worldwide protests against Israel erupted immediately after Hamas’s October 8, 2023, invasion, which resulted in the massacre of over 1,200 innocent people, including 46 Americans, and the taking of 254 hostages, including 12 Americans. These protests began before Israel had launched any military response, underscoring that the outrage was not a reaction to Israeli actions but rather rooted in longstanding antisemitic beliefs opposing the Jewish state’s existence.

Haley further criticized the selective outrage over human rights abuses, pointing out that if concerns about genocide were genuine, the world’s attention would focus more on countries like Russia and China, which have been documented committing serious human rights violations. She described the criticism of Israel as a deliberate attempt to delegitimize the country.

Her remarks come amid growing concerns over antisemitic incidents in the United States, including protests targeting Jewish institutions. According to data from the Anti-Defamation League, antisemitic incidents have surged in recent years, posing a threat to the safety of Jewish communities nationwide.

Haley’s call to action aligns with efforts by U.S. lawmakers to strengthen the US-Israel alliance. House Speaker Mike Johnson recently emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating that antisemitism must be called out and confronted to protect shared democratic values.

As the debate over Israel’s role in the Middle East continues, Haley’s message serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of ignoring antisemitism and the necessity of truth in public discourse. The U.S. Department of State continues to affirm its commitment to Israel’s security, recognizing the country as a key partner in a volatile region.

With antisemitism posing a growing threat to national security, Haley’s appeal urges leaders across the political spectrum to unite in defense of Israel and to expose the dangerous falsehoods that undermine both American and Israeli interests.
