Georgia Death Row Inmate Requests Lavish Last Meal Before Execution

13 December 2025 U.S. News

JACKSON, Ga. — Stacey Humphreys, a 52-year-old death row inmate in Georgia, has requested an extensive buffet-style last meal before his scheduled execution by lethal injection this Wednesday. Humphreys, convicted for the 2003 double murder of two women in a real estate office, has asked for a spread that includes barbecue beef brisket, pork ribs, a bacon double cheeseburger, French fries, coleslaw, cornbread, buffalo wings, a meat lover’s pan pizza, vanilla ice cream, and two lemon-lime sodas, according to a press release from the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Standing approximately 6-foot-3 and weighing 305 pounds, Humphreys would be classified as clinically obese under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s body mass index (BMI) guidelines. His final meal request reflects a high-calorie selection of classic Southern and American comfort foods.

Humphreys was sentenced to death for the murders of 33-year-old Cyndi Williams and 21-year-old Lori Brown. In November 2003, he entered the real estate office where the women worked, held them at gunpoint with a stolen firearm, and forced them to undress and surrender their bank card PINs before fatally shooting them. The Georgia Attorney General’s office detailed the brutality of the attack, noting that Williams had a ligature mark around her neck and Brown suffered a hemorrhage consistent with choking or blunt trauma to the throat.

Following the murders, Humphreys withdrew $3,000 from the victims’ bank accounts. He was apprehended after a high-speed chase in Wisconsin. Initially, Humphreys denied memory of the killings but later admitted to the crimes, telling police, “I know I did it. I know it just as well as I know my own name.” He also cited financial difficulties, including high-interest payday loans, as contributing factors to his actions.

Legal efforts to stay Humphreys’ execution were unsuccessful, and the Georgia Department of Corrections confirmed that the execution will proceed at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson. The case has drawn attention amid ongoing national debates over the death penalty and its application.

The practice of granting last meal requests varies by state, with some corrections departments imposing restrictions on the types and quantities of food inmates may request. Humphreys’ choice of a large, indulgent meal highlights the rare opportunity inmates have to select their final taste before death.
