Jim Harbaugh Reaches Out to Sherrone Moore Amid Michigan Coaching Scandal
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — As the fallout continues from the arrest of former University of Michigan offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore, Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has revealed that he reached out to Moore by text message, calling the situation a “tragedy.” Moore, who served as Harbaugh’s top assistant during Michigan’s national championship run, was arrested last week on multiple charges, including felony home invasion.
Harbaugh, who appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show,” said he last spoke with Moore in early December but felt compelled to send a message of support after Moore’s arrest. “Keep it together and take care of your family,” Harbaugh said. “Getting spiritual guidance is really critical.”
Despite his ongoing commitment to leading the Chargers toward a playoff berth, Harbaugh admitted he is struggling to comprehend the allegations against Moore. “I still don’t have my head wrapped around it,” he said. “It’s a tragedy and just praying for all concerned. I love my alma mater, I love Michigan and I love the Chargers, too.”
Moore appeared in Washtenaw County court on December 12, where his bond was set at $25,000 with conditions including no contact with the alleged victim. Prosecutors detailed that Moore had engaged in a long-term “intimate relationship” with a Michigan staffer, which ended abruptly on December 8. Following the breakup, the victim accused Moore of continued contact via calls and texts, prompting a university investigation and subsequent arrest. Moore pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The University of Michigan has not publicly commented on the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, Michigan’s interim coaching staff has acknowledged that players feel “very betrayed” by the scandal, according to reports.
Harbaugh emphasized he is not involved in the Wolverines’ search for a new head coach following Moore’s departure. His focus remains on the Chargers’ upcoming games, which he described as “the most important game for us.”

This incident has sent shockwaves through the college football community, raising questions about staff conduct and university oversight. As investigations continue, stakeholders await further information on the case and its implications for Michigan football’s future.
