Texas Father Rescues Kidnapped Daughter on Christmas Day Using Phone Tracker
PORTER, Texas — A Texas father’s quick thinking and use of technology led to the rescue of his 15-year-old daughter on Christmas Day, when she was abducted near their home, authorities said. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a kidnapping call around 4:50 p.m. on December 25 at a residence in Porter, a suburban community outside Houston.
According to the sheriff’s office, the teenager had gone out to walk her dog but did not return at the expected time, prompting her parents to become concerned. Using parental control features to track her phone’s location, the father discovered she was nearly two miles away in a secluded, partially wooded area in neighboring Harris County.
Upon arriving at the location, the father found his daughter and her dog inside a maroon pickup truck with a 23-year-old man, later identified as Giovanni Rosales Espinoza. The suspect was partially nude and had reportedly threatened the girl with a knife before abducting her from the street, according to investigators.
The father was able to help his daughter escape from the vehicle and immediately contacted law enforcement. Deputies, using witness descriptions, quickly located Espinoza and took him into custody without incident. He was charged with aggravated kidnapping and indecency with a child and remains held without bond.
Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle praised the swift action of his deputies and detectives, stating, “Christmas is a day meant for joy, but this man chose to shatter that joy by targeting a child. I am incredibly proud of our deputies and detectives who worked tirelessly to ensure this dangerous predator was swiftly apprehended and is now off our streets.”
