Corrections & Clarifications

Trust is built not only through strong reporting, but also through what we do when we fall short. At TRN, we treat corrections, clarifications, and updates as an essential part of responsible journalism, not an afterthought.

When we correct:
We issue a correction when:
• A published fact is wrong.
• A name, date, number, location, or quote is inaccurate.
• We misidentify a person, organization, or source.
• We materially misrepresent what a source said or what a document shows.

Corrections are labeled clearly on the story page so readers can see what changed and why. We do not silently edit significant errors in a way that could mislead people who read the piece later.

When we clarify:
Sometimes the original information is technically accurate, but missing important context that could cause confusion or misinterpretation. In those cases, we may add a clarification note, explaining how the wording has been updated to better reflect the facts.

How to request a correction:
If you believe something on TRN is wrong, incomplete, or unfair:
• Include a link to the specific article.
• Quote the portion you believe is inaccurate.
• Provide documentation, links, or additional context if you have them.
• Share how we can reach you if we need follow‑up information.

A member of our editorial team will review the request. If a correction or clarification is warranted, we will update the article and note the change.

Updating developing stories:
For stories that unfold over hours or days — such as elections, major court decisions, economic releases, or breaking public safety events — information can change quickly. We timestamp updates and may add a running “What we know now” section so readers can track how the story is evolving.

Our commitment:
Making a correction does not weaken our journalism; it strengthens it. When we make changes, we want readers to see that process. The goal is always the same: to leave the public better informed than before they visited TRN.
