Apple Watch Introduces Sleep Score to Simplify Sleep Tracking

November 29, 2025 — Apple has launched a new Sleep Score feature for the Apple Watch that offers users a straightforward way to assess their sleep quality. The feature consolidates data collected by the Apple Watch into a single numerical score, making it easier to understand nightly rest without navigating complex charts, according to officials.

The Sleep Score is available on Apple Watches running watchOS 26 or later, paired with iPhones running iOS 26 or later. The feature was tested on an iPhone 15 Pro Max and an Apple Watch Series 11. Users with older software versions are advised to update their devices before using the new sleep tracking capabilities.

To set up sleep tracking, users open the Health app on their iPhone, select the Sleep section, and follow prompts to establish a sleep schedule by setting bedtime and wake-up times. The schedule can be customized for specific days and adjusted as needed. Once configured, the Sleep Score appears on both the Apple Watch and iPhone, allowing users to monitor their sleep history and observe changes over time.

On the Apple Watch, the Sleep Score typically appears within about 15 minutes after waking. Users can access the score by opening the Sleep app, tapping the information icon next to the score, and scrolling to view details such as sleep stages and total time asleep. For a more comprehensive view, the Health app on the iPhone provides full charts and historical data.

This update aims to make sleep tracking more accessible and user-friendly by distilling complex sleep data into an easy-to-understand score, helping users better manage their sleep health.
