Arizona Firefighters Rescue Dog Trapped Under Car Tire on Busy Road
TUCSON, Ariz. — A large dog narrowly escaped serious injury after being run over and trapped under a car tire on a busy roadway in Tucson, Arizona, firefighters reported on Christmas Eve. The Tucson Fire Department’s Engine 16 crew was returning to their station from an unrelated call when they were flagged down by several drivers who witnessed the incident.
According to the department’s social media post, the dog had been running along the roadway when it suddenly jumped in front of a car. The driver slammed on the brakes and stopped, but unfortunately, the dog’s paw became partially stuck under the rear tire. Recognizing the urgency, the firefighters quickly blocked traffic on the wet and busy street to safely address the situation.
The crew carefully placed the car in neutral and gently rolled it forward just enough to free the dog. The animal was then handed over to an animal control officer for further care. While the dog was visibly scared and trembling, firefighters noted it appeared to have avoided any serious injuries.
Authorities are now working to locate the dog’s owner to reunite them with their pet. The Tucson Fire Department highlighted that this rescue marked the second time in a single week they had freed a trapped dog from underneath a vehicle.
