British Teen Faces Hostility While Promoting Conservative Values at London School of Economics

LONDON, England — November 23, 2025 — A 17-year-old British conservative activist, Thomas Moffitt, said he encountered hostility including thrown urine and glue while advocating for socially conservative values at the London School of Economics (LSE).

Moffitt, known online as “Young Bob,” spoke at an event organized by the university’s Conservative Society on November 20. He was invited to discuss socially conservative principles as part of his work with Turning Point UK, an organization inspired by the American conservative group Turning Point USA.

According to Moffitt, the initial hour of the event involved some constructive debate and photo opportunities with attendees. However, after the formal discussion ended, masked protesters attempted to steal materials and disrupted the gathering with megaphones. Moffitt said the demonstrators also mocked the death of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was fatally shot earlier this year while speaking at Utah Valley University.

“In their eyes, it must have just been seen as them trying to commit some sort of humiliation ritual,” Moffitt said, describing the protesters’ actions as a demoralizing attempt to ridicule Kirk’s legacy. He emphasized that Turning Point UK aims to continue Kirk’s mission in the United Kingdom.

Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA in 2012 to mobilize young conservatives, had previously spoken at British venues such as the Oxford Union, encouraging conservative activism among students abroad. His outreach has since inspired international chapters including Turning Point UK and Turning Point Australia.

Moffitt, who has been involved with Turning Point UK for two years, also reported receiving death threats amid his activism. The incidents at LSE reflect ongoing tensions surrounding conservative youth movements on university campuses.

Officials have not commented publicly on the specific events at LSE. The episode highlights the challenges faced by conservative activists in the UK as they seek to promote their views in academic settings.
