Broncos Defeat Commanders in Overtime Thriller
LANDOVER, Md. — The Denver Broncos edged the Washington Commanders 27-26 in a closely contested NFL Week 13 game that was decided in overtime, officials said. The Broncos secured the win after a series of pivotal plays in the extra period.
In overtime, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix completed four passes, including a 41-yard connection to Evan Engram, setting up running back RJ Harvey’s five-yard touchdown run that gave Denver a 27-20 lead. The Commanders responded with quarterback Marcus Mariota engineering a late-game rally, including a 38-yard reception by Deebo Samuel on a third-and-14 and a key catch by Terry McLaurin that brought the score within one point.
With the game on the line, the Commanders attempted a two-point conversion to take the lead. Mariota’s pass intended for Jeremy McNichols was blocked by Broncos pass rusher Nik Bonitto, preserving Denver’s victory.
Nix finished the game completing 29 of 45 passes for 321 yards and one touchdown. Harvey contributed 35 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Earlier in the game, Nix threw a touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton while falling to the ground, a play that helped Denver take the lead before halftime.
The Commanders also had notable moments, including wide receiver Treylon Burks’ one-handed touchdown catch in the end zone, marking his second career touchdown reception. The game featured several standout performances and key plays from both teams, culminating in a dramatic finish in overtime.
