California Man Charged with DUI After Crashing Into Anaheim High School Track Runners
ANAHEIM, Calif. — A 27-year-old Anaheim man faces serious charges after allegedly striking eight high school track athletes with his vehicle during a practice session on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities identified the suspect as Anthony Alva-Palafox, who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of both alcohol and drugs, according to records from the Anaheim Police Department (APD).
The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. as the eight Anaheim High School runners, aged 16 to 17, waited at a red light during a practice run. Alva-Palafox’s sedan reportedly collided with the group, injuring all eight young athletes. Seven of the teens were transported to local hospitals with injuries that officials expect will not be life-threatening. They were accompanied at practice by their adult coach at the time of the crash.
