Colorado Mother Extradited from U.K. to Face Murder Charges in Children’s Deaths

26 December 2025 U.S. News

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — After a protracted international legal battle, Kimberlee Singler, a Colorado mother accused of killing two of her children and injuring another during a bitter custody dispute, has been extradited from the United Kingdom to face charges in the United States. Authorities confirmed that Singler, 37, was arrested in London on December 30, 2023, and transported back to Colorado this week to stand trial for two counts of first-degree murder.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, Singler allegedly drugged her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son before killing them, also inflicting injuries on her 11-year-old daughter. The incident occurred during a contentious custody battle in December 2023. Initially, Singler claimed that an unknown man had entered the apartment and committed the violent acts, a story that was at first supported by her surviving daughter but later recanted.

Investigators found the two children deceased in bed together, with evidence at the scene including spent rounds, a blood-stained knife, and empty bottles of sleeping pills discarded in a trash can. Despite an early 911 call reporting a burglary, law enforcement later determined there was no evidence to support this claim.

Colorado District Attorney Michael Allen described the extradition as a “momentous day” and emphasized the gravity of the charges. “Crimes as horrific as this are simply heart-wrenching,” Allen said during a news conference. “No person, much less a child, should ever have to go through something like this.”

The extradition was the result of coordinated efforts between U.S. and U.K. authorities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which traveled to London to assist in Singler’s apprehension. Singler had been residing in an upscale London neighborhood after fleeing the country, and she resisted extradition proceedings before finally being returned to Colorado.

Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez called the return of Singler a “significant milestone” in the investigation. “She is accused of committing an unthinkable act,” Vasquez said. The charges she faces include two counts of first-degree murder, and she is expected to make her first court appearance in the coming days.

This case has drawn attention to the complexities of international extradition and the challenges law enforcement faces when suspects cross borders. The U.S. Department of State’s Office of International Affairs played a key role in facilitating the legal processes required for Singler’s return.

As the legal proceedings begin, the community continues to grapple with the tragedy of the children’s deaths and the trauma inflicted on the surviving daughter. Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward, while support services have been mobilized to assist the family and community during this difficult time.

Further updates will be provided as the case progresses through the Colorado judicial system.
