Comment & Community Guidelines

Our comment spaces and community channels exist to help people learn from one another and think more deeply about the news, not to shut each other down. We welcome debate and disagreement — but we expect it to stay constructive and grounded in basic respect.

By participating in TRN comment threads, social channels, or community spaces, you agree to:

1. Stay respectful.
Critique ideas, policies, and arguments — not people. Personal attacks, insults, or harassment are not allowed.

2. No hate or targeting.
We do not permit hate speech, slurs, or content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.

3. No threats or encouragement of harm.
Threatening language, doxxing, or explicit encouragement of violence or self‑harm will lead to immediate removal and, if necessary, reporting to appropriate authorities.

4. Avoid misinformation and bad‑faith posting.
Do not knowingly spread false claims, fabricated quotes, or manipulated media. If you share information, be prepared to link to credible sources.

5. Stay on topic.
Keep contributions connected to the article or discussion at hand. Repeating the same talking points across threads or spamming links is not allowed.

6. No commercial spam.
Unsolicited promotions, advertisements, or unrelated links may be removed.

Moderation:
Comments may be moderated before or after they appear. TRN reserves the right to remove content or limit participation for users who repeatedly violate these guidelines. In serious or repeated cases, accounts may be blocked from future engagement.

Appeals:
If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you may contact us with details and a link to the conversation. While we cannot review every case, we do look at patterns and adjust our approach over time.

We want TRN to be a place where people can ask questions, challenge assumptions, and explore complex issues without fear of harassment. Help us make the conversation better, not louder.
