Coyote Spotted on Ledge Outside Florida Hotel Draws Police and Onlookers

26 November 2025 Bizarre

FORT MYERS, Fla. — November 26, 2025 — A coyote that appeared stranded on a ledge outside a downtown Florida hotel attracted the attention of police, firefighters and wildlife officials before it safely returned to the ground on its own, authorities said.

The animal was first seen around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on a ledge of the Denison Parking garage adjacent to the Luminary Hotel in Fort Myers. A witness tried to chase the coyote away, but it fled to a second-story ledge outside the building.

Responding to the scene, Fort Myers police, firefighters and personnel from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission monitored the situation. The coyote eventually jumped over a barrier and re-entered the parking garage.

FWC officials continued to observe the animal as it left the area, and it was last seen heading into nearby woods, according to authorities.

The Luminary Hotel posted a lighthearted comment on social media about the incident, noting, “When you say your hotel has great views… and a coyote takes it literally. Don’t worry, we offered an early check-in and some Bonvoy points to get him off the ledge.”

No injuries or damage were reported during the incident, and the coyote was not captured or harmed.
