Elon Musk Shares Video Highlighting Tesla’s Optimus Robots in Everyday Roles
NEW YORK — Elon Musk has released a video showcasing Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robots performing a variety of tasks, suggesting a future where robots play a central role in daily life and work becomes optional. The 38-second clip, originally created by Alex Utopia and reposted by Musk on his social media profile, has attracted over 58.5 million views.
The montage features Optimus robots engaged in diverse activities, including walking down city streets, assisting workers at construction sites, providing emergency aid during drills, sparring in a judo gym, patrolling urban areas with police, dealing cards at a casino blackjack table, walking on a beach, and cooking alongside professional chefs in a restaurant kitchen. Earlier demonstrations have also shown the robots folding laundry and walking.
Musk has framed these humanoid robots as a solution to labor shortages linked to declining fertility rates. Speaking at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum shortly after sharing the video, Musk predicted that humanoid robots will transform society by making work optional. He compared future employment to gardening for enjoyment rather than necessity and suggested that money may lose its significance as artificial intelligence and robotics advance. Musk also described humanoid robots as potentially the largest product in history and expressed optimism that AI and robotics could eliminate poverty and allow people to work only when they find joy in it.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang offered a more measured view, acknowledging that jobs will evolve but stating that currency will remain important for the foreseeable future.
The video and Musk’s statements highlight ongoing developments in robotics and AI, with Tesla’s Optimus robot positioned as a key player in this emerging landscape.
