FBI Operation ‘Broken Crown’ Nets Nearly 50 Latin Kings Arrests Across Multiple States

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a coordinated nationwide effort, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest of nearly 50 members and associates of the Latin Kings gang as part of a sweeping crackdown dubbed “Operation Broken Crown.” The three-month operation, which began last October, targeted the gang’s involvement in drug trafficking, violent crimes, and threats against law enforcement, resulting in significant seizures of firearms, narcotics, and cash.

More than a dozen FBI field offices collaborated with federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies to dismantle the Latin Kings’ criminal network. The operation yielded the confiscation of over a dozen firearms, nearly $200,000 in illicit funds, and more than 10 kilograms of cocaine, fentanyl, and other narcotics. Officials emphasized that the effort was part of a broader initiative to curb violent gang activity across the United States.

FBI Director Kash Patel highlighted the impact of the operation, stating that under the leadership of President Trump and Attorney General Bondi, the bureau is dismantling violent gang networks at an unprecedented pace. “Breaking their operations saves lives and restores safety to communities,” Patel said during a press briefing.

The Latin Kings, one of the largest and most violent street gangs in the country, have been linked to various criminal enterprises including drug distribution and violent offenses. This crackdown aligns with the ongoing efforts by the FBI’s Violent Crime and Gang Section to disrupt and dismantle organized gang activity nationwide.

Law enforcement officials also underscored the importance of interagency cooperation in the success of Operation Broken Crown. The initiative involved partnerships with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and various state and local police departments.

In addition to arrests and seizures, the operation sent a strong message to criminal organizations that federal authorities remain vigilant and committed to combating gang-related violence. The Department of Justice continues to prioritize efforts to reduce gang influence and protect communities from the dangers posed by illegal firearms and narcotics.
