Georgia Prosecutor Dismisses Racketeering Case Against Trump
ATLANTA, Ga. — November 27, 2025 — The racketeering case against former President Donald Trump in Georgia has been dismissed by Pete Skandalakis, the prosecutor who replaced Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Skandalakis described the case as flawed from the beginning, following Willis’s removal due to personal misconduct involving the hiring of her former lover as lead prosecutor.
The case, initiated by Willis, alleged a conspiracy involving Trump and 18 other individuals related to election interference. Critics, including Skandalakis, argued that the theory was legally and factually unsound, noting that the individuals named had little connection to each other as a group or in a conspiracy.
Skandalakis criticized the charges brought against several defendants, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. He expressed concern that charging individuals for statements made to the Georgia Legislature could have a chilling effect on witnesses and raise serious constitutional questions regarding free speech.
The prosecution under Willis faced scrutiny after it was revealed she hired Nathan Wade, her former lover, as special prosecutor, leading to her removal from the case. The grand jury report associated with the case was also described as disorganized, with the foreperson drawing public attention for unusual behavior.
Skandalakis’s dismissal of the case marks a significant development in the legal proceedings surrounding Trump’s alleged election interference in Georgia. The case had been widely discussed and criticized for its approach and foundation since its inception.
