ICE Arrests Illegal Immigrant After Vehicle Ramming Incident in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Authorities from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended an illegal immigrant following a dangerous incident in which the suspect allegedly used his vehicle as a weapon against law enforcement officers. The man, identified as Robyn Argote Brooks, is accused of ramming two ICE vehicles in a parking lot while attempting to evade arrest, nearly running over an agent in the process.
The incident unfolded during a targeted vehicle stop in San Antonio, where agents had boxed in Brooks’ sedan. Video footage released by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency shows Brooks defying law enforcement orders by suddenly reversing his car. He narrowly missed an agent on foot before striking a federal SUV. After failing to accelerate through the larger vehicle, Brooks then rammed a second ICE sedan in front of him and continued to accelerate as agents tried to halt his escape.
In a dramatic conclusion to the chase, an ICE agent broke through the car window and forcibly removed Brooks from the vehicle, securing his arrest. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed the suspect’s illegal status and condemned the use of a vehicle as a weapon against federal officers.
“This reckless behavior endangered the lives of our agents and will not be tolerated,” said a DHS spokesperson. The agency pointed to the incident as an example of the risks faced by immigration enforcement personnel amid rising tensions at the border and in sanctuary cities.
