Jaxon Smith-Njigba Sets Seahawks Single-Season Receiving Record in Win Over Titans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — November 24, 2025 — Jaxon Smith-Njigba broke the Seattle Seahawks’ single-season receiving yards record during the team’s 30-24 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, officials said. The third-year receiver recorded 167 receiving yards in the game, surpassing DK Metcalf’s previous franchise record of 1,303 yards set in 2020.

Smith-Njigba, who entered the game needing 150 yards to break the record, reached the milestone in the third quarter after a 63-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Sam Darnold. This marked Smith-Njigba’s 11th game of the season, with six games remaining in the regular season, suggesting his total receiving yards will continue to increase.

The receiver, who played college football at Ohio State, has emerged as a key offensive weapon for the Seahawks. In his second NFL season in 2024, Smith-Njigba recorded 100 receptions for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns. This season, with Darnold as the new starting quarterback following Geno Smith’s trade to the Las Vegas Raiders, Smith-Njigba has set new career highs in touchdowns and is on pace to surpass his previous reception totals.

Smith-Njigba’s rise contributed to the Seahawks trading Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers during the offseason. The team also noted that Smith-Njigba now ranks fifth in receiving yards through the first 11 games of a season in the Super Bowl era, surpassing Julio Jones on that list.

The game against the Titans remained competitive late, with Tennessee’s Chimere Dike scoring a touchdown in the fourth quarter to narrow the Seahawks’ lead to six points. However, Seattle’s defense held firm to secure the victory, marking the team’s eighth win of the season.

Smith-Njigba’s performance highlights his growing role in the Seahawks’ offense under head coach Klint Kubiak and quarterback Sam Darnold, who has proven to be a good fit for the team’s offensive scheme.
