LOS ANGELES — Kourtney Kardashian recently shared her reaction to learning a new guideline about breastfeeding during an episode of the reality series The Kardashians. The mother of four was surprised to hear from psychoanalyst and parent guidance expert Erica Komisar that nursing parents should avoid using their phones while breastfeeding to maintain emotional attunement with their babies.

During the episode, Komisar explained that the purpose of breastfeeding includes fostering emotional connection, and she advised against phone use during feeding. Kardashian responded by asking if it made a difference if the baby was asleep, noting that she had used her phone while nursing without knowing it was discouraged.

In a confessional segment, Kardashian admitted, “I did not know that you should not be on your phone while breastfeeding. I’ve definitely done that with all kids.” She also expressed feelings of guilt about her phone use during breastfeeding, saying, “Now I’m like, the guilt that I have. But it’s good, because you shouldn’t be doing it.”

Kardashian has been open about her parenting style, including her decision to co-sleep with her children. In the same episode, Komisar recommended that babies co-sleep with parents for the first eight to twelve weeks. Kardashian confirmed that she and her son Rocky, now 2 years old, still share a bed, describing their sleep as harmonious.

Kardashian shares three children with her ex Scott Disick and one child with Travis Barker. She has previously defended her parenting choices publicly, emphasizing that different approaches work for different families.

The Kardashians is available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
