MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. — November 26, 2025 — Police in Monroe Township, New Jersey, engaged in a pursuit of a loose horse that was seen trotting through a residential neighborhood on Friday, officials said. The Monroe Township Police Department reported on social media that the horse was spotted in the Hunter Woods neighborhood in Gloucester County. An officer attempted to chase the horse on foot but was unable to keep pace, humorously acknowledging that he could not outrun the animal. The horse, referred to by the alias Seabiscuit to protect its privacy, was eventually cornered by police and safely returned to its owner. Authorities expressed appreciation for the efforts of the officers and community members who assisted during the incident. The police department noted that calls involving loose animals are not uncommon and emphasized their commitment to protecting animals within the community.
