New Mexico Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Threatening Donald Trump on Social Media
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — December 4, 2025 — Tyler Leveque, a 38-year-old man from Albuquerque, was sentenced to roughly 10 months in federal prison for issuing violent threats against former President Donald Trump on social media, officials said.
According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico, Leveque admitted to posting a series of threatening messages targeting Trump over several days in early January 2025. His posts appeared on platforms including TikTok, X, and Facebook and were explicit enough to trigger investigations by the U.S. Secret Service and the FBI.
The threats began on January 2, 2025, when Leveque posted a TikTok video expressing hatred toward multiple groups, warning followers they should be “f—ing scared,” and declaring his willingness to die. The video concluded with the taunt, “Run, run.”
The following day, Leveque continued posting threats on X, directly addressing Trump and others. In one message, he wrote, “@realDonaldTrump I got my eyes on you sir! Cant wait for your Victory rally! The 19th right!? Lol you and your rich friends are dead no threat a promise.” Another post referenced a supposed confrontation on January 19, stating, “its [sic] too late for yall… see u on the 19thfor [sic] war!” He also replied “Die” to one of Trump’s posts.
On January 4, Leveque posted on Facebook that he had “just bought my first gun,” followed by calls for a march on state offices and statements indicating preparation for violent action. He suggested he expected to either die or be jailed.
Secret Service agents and FBI investigators contacted Leveque at his home on January 6. They learned he had initiated an online gun purchase two days earlier but had not completed the transaction or taken possession of the weapon. Authorities informed him that his posts constituted threats, which are not protected by the First Amendment.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office emphasized that threatening violence against public officials is a serious federal offense and that such cases are prosecuted accordingly.
