Photos Released of Renee Nicole Good, U.S. Citizen Killed by ICE Agent in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Images of Renee Nicole Good, the 37-year-old U.S. citizen fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during a migrant operation in south Minneapolis, were released Wednesday, reigniting debate over federal immigration enforcement tactics. The incident occurred amid a Trump administration-led crackdown on undocumented immigrants, and Good was struck while inside her vehicle, authorities said.

Good was pronounced dead at the scene after the shooting by a masked ICE agent, whose identity has not been disclosed as the investigation continues. The ICE agency stated that the agent acted in self-defense, though video footage and witness accounts have raised questions about the circumstances leading to the shooting.

Photographs shared publicly show Good in professional portraits and with her family, humanizing a figure caught in the crossfire of heightened immigration enforcement efforts. The Minneapolis City Council issued a joint statement condemning the shooting and demanding ICE’s removal from the city. “Anyone who kills someone in our city deserves to be arrested, investigated, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the council said, emphasizing their support for the immigrant community and criticizing federal authorities for bringing “chaos and violence” to Minneapolis.

Prominent Minnesota Democrats, including Representative Ilhan Omar, expressed outrage over the killing. Omar called the incident “unconscionable and reprehensible” on social media, adding that the victim’s family will endure lasting pain due to what she described as the Trump administration’s reckless policies. “This is not law enforcement. It is state violence. It is simply indefensible, and ICE must be held accountable,” Omar stated.

New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez labeled the shooting a murder and called for prosecution. “What we saw today was a murder, and murders in cold blood need to be prosecuted,” she said, warning that ICE has become an unchecked anti-civilian force.

President Donald Trump and congressional Republican leaders defended the operation, claiming Good attempted to use her vehicle as a weapon against agents. However, multiple Democrats and independent observers have disputed this narrative, pointing to video evidence that contradicts those assertions. The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, is continuing its review of the incident.

Following the shooting, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced preparations to deploy the National Guard, describing the situation as unprecedented and emphasizing the need to maintain order. The incident has intensified calls for federal immigration authorities to reconsider their presence in Minneapolis and elsewhere.

Renee Nicole Good’s death has become a flashpoint in the ongoing national discussion about immigration enforcement, civil rights, and the use of force by federal agents. Advocates for immigrant communities and civil liberties groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, have condemned the operation and urged comprehensive investigations to ensure accountability.

As the investigation proceeds, Minneapolis residents and lawmakers alike demand transparency and justice for Good, whose life was cut short amid a contentious and deeply polarizing immigration crackdown.
