Trailer Carrying Nine Sled Dogs Overturns on Minnesota Highway

4 December 2025 Bizarre

MINNETONKA, Minn. — December 4, 2025 — A trailer transporting nine sled dogs overturned on Interstate 494 in Minnetonka, Minnesota, officials said. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Saturday while Jack and Kris Christopher, owners of Monticello-based Silent Run Adventures, were driving with their dog sledding team.

According to Jack Christopher, the trailer’s back end came loose, causing it to split in half and overturn. He described seeing the bottom of the trailer in his side mirror and expressed concern primarily for the safety of the dogs.

Eight of the sled dogs remained near the overturned trailer, but one dog named Hoss ran off down the highway. State troopers, Minnetonka police, and firefighters assisted in keeping Hoss safe until Kris Christopher was able to recapture him.

The dogs were transported to a local veterinarian in separate vehicles, with one dog named Rebel riding in the back of a police cruiser. The Christophers reported that the dogs appeared unharmed but will be monitored for a week to check for any internal injuries.

The couple is currently raising funds to cover veterinary expenses and to replace the damaged trailer.
