Trump’s Operation Absolute Resolve Seizes Venezuelan Leader Nicolás Maduro in High-Stakes Military Raid
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a dramatic display of military precision and strategic planning, President Donald Trump launched Operation Absolute Resolve, a sweeping mission that culminated in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The operation, involving more than 150 aircraft and elite Special Forces, marked a significant escalation in U.S. efforts to counter authoritarian influence in Latin America and curb the expansion of Chinese and Russian presence in the region.
According to military officials, the mission was orchestrated under the leadership of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan “Razin” Caine, whose experience in counterterrorism operations proved critical. Drawing parallels to the June 2025 Operation Midnight Hammer against Iran’s nuclear facilities, this mission leveraged America’s complete air dominance and integrated capabilities from multiple branches of the armed forces.
“We watched, we waited, we prepared,” General Caine explained, highlighting the meticulous intelligence work that mapped Maduro’s daily routines down to the habits of his pets. U.S. intelligence agencies, including the Defense Intelligence Agency, played a pivotal role in gathering real-time data that enabled the forces to achieve total surprise.
The operation began under the cover of coastal fog, which lifted just enough to allow the most skilled aviators to penetrate hostile airspace. U.S. Space Force and Cyber Command units simultaneously disrupted Venezuela’s Russian-supplied air defenses and military communications, creating a secure corridor for the insertion of Special Forces helicopters.
Once on the ground, U.S. troops swiftly overwhelmed Maduro’s security detail. Despite the dictator’s attempt to reach a secure location within his compound, he was apprehended as he failed to close the door behind him. The extraction was fraught with danger; helicopters carrying Maduro remained in hostile airspace for over two hours, engaging in multiple self-defense maneuvers before safely exiting at 3:29 a.m. Eastern time.
Supporting the operation, the U.S. Air Force deployed F-22 Raptors, F-35 Lightning IIs, and B-1 bombers, while the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford provided F/A-18EF Super Hornets, EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft, and E-2D Hawkeye radar planes. President Trump monitored the raid closely, witnessing the unfolding events via drone feeds and other intelligence channels. The operation sent shockwaves through Caracas, where a Chinese delegation had recently arrived to oversee investments totaling $67 billion, underscoring the geopolitical stakes involved.
Following Maduro’s capture, the U.S. government announced plans to temporarily govern Venezuela in coordination with an international coalition, aiming to stabilize the country and prevent a power vacuum that could invite further foreign interference. Maduro and his wife are being transported to New York to face charges related to drug trafficking and weapons violations, according to the Department of Justice.
