Two Arrested in Minnesota Amid Anti-ICE Protests for Allegedly Assaulting Federal Officers
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Two protesters were taken into custody Sunday after allegedly assaulting federal officers during anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement demonstrations in Minnesota, according to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The arrests occurred as roughly 200 demonstrators gathered near the Whipple Building, a federal facility housing ICE and other government agencies, to voice opposition to immigration enforcement policies.
ICE agents reported that the two individuals repeatedly refused orders to stay out of traffic and engaged in physical altercations with officers attempting to secure the area. “If you assault federal law enforcement, you will face the consequences like these two agitators,” ICE stated in a message posted on their official social media account.
The protests have been ongoing in the Minneapolis area, fueled by heightened tensions following a recent fatal shooting involving a U.S. citizen and immigration enforcement activity.
